VMware fires Photon Missile

VMware has released version 1.0 of photons thin OS, Linux and cooked to run container within vSphere.

Available here on GitHub, the operating system has a memory capacity of 384 MB and requires 396MB of disk space in the minimalist setting.

VMware said "kernel boot time is ~ 200 ms."

The announcement of version 1.0 of VMware comes just days before DockerCon where opposing players by the OS-container is likely that the ads in your account. VMware is positioning photons as "open source software that was reviewed by the engineering support and validation teams VMware guest OS and thousands of people in the community." What is a fancy way of saying "if you want to run containers within vSphere, these other lightweight Linux systems are a bit more risky than the box
