If hypervisor is commodity, why is VMware still on top?

If hypervisor is commodity, why is VMware still on top?

The hypervisor is a commodity. ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V vs Xen to KVM and VMware community of open source and are suitable for virtualization workloads good tools. Does this mean we should all climb away from expensive proprietary hypervisors gifts and dinner in open source? That said, the answer is "it depends".
Each hypervisor is a bad solution for niche marketing and working with VMware are never happy when I proclaim the hypervisor a commodity, but for their daily work, it is true. So if that's the case, why are not more popular KVM or Xen? Otherwise, why Hyper-V - a hypervisor that is perfectly capable and credible - as far back later ESXi?
There are technical answers to these questions as well as economic, political and cultural. Interact and they all play a role. Perhaps the most important to consider answer is that - just - first impressions count.
Very few come back back and continually review our assessments of technologies, products and services that are not met our needs. We did an evaluation in the past, why go back to the decision? Especially if what we have in craftwork.
The short answer to this question "Because you can save a lot of money" Something that -. Strangely - does not really matter all that many people in the chain purchasing decision. But just for fun, let's cross to compare today's virtualization technologies journey.
